SC agrees to UGC proposal to increase intake

The Supreme Court today recommended the 3rd proposal out of 4 proposals submitted by the University Grants Commission (UGC) to facilitate the accommodation of an additional 4,928 students to State universities.

The Bench comprised Chief Justice Shirani A. Bandaranayake, Justices N.G. Amaratunga and K. Sripavan.

Chief Justice Shirani A. Bandaranayake on August 30 advised UGC to increase the intake of students to the university increase the infrastructure to accommodate them. She recalled a similar situation that arose in 1991 and pointed out that it was resolved by the intake of more students.

The CJ advised the UGC to take steps to release the new district and island rankings separately taking into consideration the new syllabus and old syllabus as two different entities.

She told the UGC to direct the Examinations Chief to release the rankings on or before September 10.

The Attorney General told Court he would instruct the Examinations Chief to do so without any unnecessary delay.

2012 A/L Chemistry paper also came out with mistakes

Mistakes in A/L exams, First it began with math. Math paper had a big mistake which lead many students to get fed up during exam.! After that physics part two question paper also came with mistakes. Radiation essay question, there were two correction and supervises . And also there are some news (sometimes it could be rumor) , In a popular school in Colombo they didn’t inform students to make correction in physics exam paper. That means , surely those students might have psychologically effected while doing that question. Now, today (2012.08.15) chemistry Tamil medium paper also had a minor mistake “which may lead student to go to wrong answer in 19th Question of new syllabus”. The velocity of light =  3 × 10⁸  ms-1 . But In Tamil medium chemistry paper it was like,

And there were some other mistakes also….!

Well well well, these mistakes won’t effect those students who study well (who’s eligible to take A grades), But students with lower grades.

News from Daily mirror regarding chemistry paper 2012

Commotion over periodic table Candidates who sat today’s Chemistry paper I had been agitated and distressed because they were not provided a copy of the periodic table with the question paper unlike in previous years. Examinations Commissioner W. M. J. Pushpakumara commenting on the situation said the candidates were not given the periodic table because the professors who set the paper this year had instructed us not to do so. However, teacher unions blamed the Examinations Department for not informing the candidates of this decision prior to the start of the examination. According to teacher unions, the paper had contained three questions based on the periodic table. (Lakna Paranamanna)

Again I want to remind you that, “These mistakes won’t effect those students whom study well. But it will effect those who are weak in their studies. That means it will effect the majority”

50-hydrogenchloroflourocarbon also engage in ozone layer depletion.Chlorine engae in a free radical reaction to deplete the layer.WHY ANSWER 5 is wrong then?

48-sulphur is produced through this reaction in industrial levels; 2H2S + SO2———> 3S +2 H2O.so the answer should be 2????

40-number of N2 mol = (approximately)1.4mols…therefore,the mass of L3N obtained is 1.4 X 2 X 35 =98??…so only the (a) is correct ???

39-in haber process 250atm pressure and 450-550 degrees celcius is bein used…WHY did u took the answer (b) as WRONG..??….ALL (a),(b),(d) should be correct????

35-answer(d) ..why is it wrong??…when we plot the graphs n take into a one graph,total pressure changes linearly ??cant we take asnwer as 4??

13-the bond -d ,its a sigma(SP-SP2) bond…so the length sholud be less than a sigma(SP2-SP2) bond ??
